Daily Delectables: Day 5–Oatmeal Switchup

Breakfast

You have no idea how tempted I was to go make these oats of magical deliciousness again. However, I started Daily Delectables to switch up what I  was doing, and I want to stay true to that. But the thought of making you sit through another one of those pictures while listening to me blabber about my love of an oatmeal concoction stopped me in my tracks.

I’m a giver like that.

Instead, I decided to go a slightly different route, while keeping with the classic standby of hot cereal. (Does anyone else hate calling it hot cereal?)

Enter oat bran. It’s like oatmeal’s little sister. I like little sisters. You should too. (Ps. I am one.)

  • Oat bran
  • Dark Chocolate cocoa powder
  • Cinnamon
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • dash of salt
  • Sunflower Seed Butter (for topping)

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oy. We are now entering the portion of this blog post that I like to call “listening to me blabber about my love of an oatmeal concoction.”

Old habits die hard, eh?

This was good. Really good. The spiced chocolate + salty/sweet sunflower butter was so crazy good that I had to make sure I wasn’t eating chocolate + pb. Sweet sophistication!

I also ate a pink grapefruit, hoping that the extra kick of vitamin C might help my cold a bit. The grapefruit was wedged at the top of fridge near the freezing unit, so this grapefruit was CHILLY. Kinda like a grapefruit popsicle? It was actually really good that way.

Off to francais! Smile

I wanted to ask the meaning of your Blog name – maybe I missed that in the about section? Is it a different language…;) or meaning?

    • I’m actually going to do a whole post on that soon (I hope!). Cura Personalis is a Jesuit/Georgetown motto, which means “For the whole person” in latin. It is connected to the university’s identity of serving others before the self, and I extend it to an even more holistic perspective. Thus, Cura Personalis Foodie = Food for the whole person :)

I am hooked on that sunflower seed butter!! I usually do a half oatmeal half oat bran mix for the best of both worlds with loads of this super spicy penzeys cinnamon….
